My friend Dave said there was a Pine Warbler reported at Desert Breeze Park, which is close to our house. The Pine Warbler is a rare visitor to our area. I grabbed my camera and met him there. This was a couple of weeks ago, and I am just getting around to looking at the pictures.
We didn’t see the Pine Warbler. When I got there I saw an Osprey roosting. It then took off and circled the lake, hunting for fish, for quite a while. I waited, hoping it would dive, but it never did, before it flew off to some other hunting grounds.
We met a birder there named Paul Roisen, who was also looking for the Pine Warbler. He’s from Sioux City Iowa, but has a place in Apache Junction, which is a town about 30 miles east of us. Paul stayed after we left, but I checked on ebird.org, and he didn’t report seeing the Pine Warbler.
We didn’t see any unusual birds, but it was a nice couple of hours at Desert Breeze Park.
