Water Ranch, Yard Birds, and Griffyn, March 2, 2020

Mary Ann’s sister, niece, and great nephew were in town. We went with Teresa to the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch (RPWR) in Gilbert. This post has some photos from there, as well as some unusual birds in our yard, and a few people pictures.

RPWR was nice, as usual. We saw the birds we commonly see there (we had hoped to see the Black-and-white Warbler and the Northern Parula, which are uncommon migrants, and had been reported at RPWR).

There are a pair of Say’s Phoebe’s nesting on our neighbor’s house. These aren’t uncommon in this area, but we rarely see them in our neighborhood. There was also an American Kestrel on our light pole. I included photos of both.

I also included a couple of photos of our great nephew, Griffyn (Jessica’s son).

I waited around for him to open his eyes, because he has distinct red eyes. But he was resting with his eyes closed.

Hi Joe. I am finally preparing to do some painting. Can I download photos from your page or do I need to ask you to send me images in a different way?

I’m happy to have you use them! You can download them from the site (right click on the photo, then save the image). The photos on the website are low resolution (900×600 pixels), which means they will be ‘pixelated’ and blurry if you zoom in on them. If you want a high resolution version of any photo, which would allow you to see details better, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to send it to you.

If it’s helpful to you, you can also use the ‘Photo Browser’, which is the menu item below the header image on the website. When you click on ‘Photo Browser’, you’ll see a browser tree that you can use to navigate the photos. For example, to see all hummingbirds, click the ‘+’ sign by ‘Birds’, and then click on ‘Hummingbirds’, and a gallery of all hummingbird thumbnail pictures will show up, which you can click on any one to see it. Or, if you want to see a particular species of hummingbird, you can click on the ‘+’ sign by Hummingbirds, and then click on the species you want, for example ‘Anna’s’, to see all the Anna’s Hummingbird pictures. You can do the same for other categories of pictures, such as ‘Places’, or ‘Landscapes’.
