Dave and I went to Boyce Thompson Arboretum (BTA) on Feb 16, 2018. We went for the bird walk led by Marceline VandeWater that started at 8:30. We got there a little before 8:00 (it’s about a 50 minute drive from home). It was overcast, so the birds weren’t as active, and the light makes it more difficult to take pictures. Marceline did a great job. She went back out in the afternoon when the clouds had cleared away and got a lot more birds than we saw, and she took some great photos (see here). I didn’t realize she was a photographer (since the bird walk leader never brings a camera).
After the bird walk we had lunch at Los Hermanos in Superior (our previous favorite lunch spot, Casa Denogeans, has closed), and took a little drive around Superior. It is becoming a town for artists and a tourist attraction, similar to Jerome or Bisbee (but it has a long way to go to be on par with them).
BTA is a great spot and I’m always happy to go there – I don’t get tired of it.
