This post has some photo’s from my visits to RPWR in early May.
There was a reported sighting of a Red-faced Warbler at RPWR on 4/28. I decided to go there on Thursday, May 1, before work to see if it was still around. I didn’t see the Red-faced, but the highlight for me was the Townsend’s Warbler. Other than that I saw all the ‘usuals’. It was a nice day at the preserve. Things are blooming, and there were a lot of birds. The Red-winged Blackbirds were active and displaying their red part of their wings (I think the scapulars) – probably mating season. The Abert’s towhee mother was being followed by a chick, and she stopped occasionally to feed it.
I went back again on Saturday morning with Dave. I was hoping to see the Townsend’s again to get a better photograph. No luck seeing the Townsend’s, but it was another nice morning at RPWR.
