I made another business trip to Ulm, Germany. This post has some photos.
I was in Ulm for two weeks, from September 20 to October 4. The Octoberfest was going on in Munich, which is about a 1.5 hour train trip, but I didn’t go. Instead on Saturday I walked a few miles up the Danube River, which goes through Ulm. I photographed some birds along the river. There was a large park at Fort Friederichsau, and I saw some birds there (Blackcap, Nuthatch, Blackbird). I also got some pictures from the city.
A lot of businesses in Ulm have a large Ulmer Spatz (Ulm sparrow) on display. There is a legend of the Ulmer Spatz and it is still a popular tradition in Ulm. There is an event in the city where people bring their Ulmer Spatz renditions, and I think they are judged for the best. If you’re interested in more information about the Ulmer Spatz legend, see the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulm_Sparrow.
