I mentioned in a previous post that we interviewed Bob about his experiences in the Navy during WWII for the Library of Congress ‘Veterans History Project’. We created DVDs of the interview and sent them out.
I decided to put a short clip from the video in this post. It’s a funny story, and gives you a flavor of what’s in the longer video. It also gave me the opportunity to learn how to put videos on the web site.
UPDATE 7/24/2015: The video quit playing. I’m not sure why, but I know that the way I embedded the video wasn’t very good. Since I did the post there have been improvements in the technology (HTML5 and WordPress improvements) to make it easy to embed video. I updated the post so it works again.
Here’s the video:
Regarding learning how to post a video, I got to the point where I think it’s ‘good enough’ for this post. I achieved most of what I was trying to do. There are still a couple things I want to investigate:
- Why is the black border around the video? I should be able to get rid of that.
- After clicking ‘Play’ it takes a while before the video starts playing. Since the video should be streaming (i.e. playing as the video file is being loaded), I thought it would start faster. Maybe it takes time for the video player to load?
If you’re having any issues playing the video, let me know.
I may add a post later describing how I did the video so that I can remember how do it again next time.
